Negotiations for ReturnSheffield City Art Galleries began negotiating for the return of the Collection in the mid 1970s.It was proposed initially that the City Council would construct an extension to the existing Mappin Art Gallery, and house the Collection close to the Gallery's holdings of Victorian art.Refusal of plans for changes to the historic building led to the abandonment of this scheme.

Photographed by Dave Ball It housed the Collection in the premises of a Victorian shop, previously Hays Wine Shop, in the centre of Sheffield.The new museum opened in 1985.New Home at The Millennium GalleryThe Collection was moved to a new home in April 2001.It opened as the Ruskin Gallery, housed in the new Millennium Gallery complex situated in the centre of the City. In April 2011, the gallery re-opened under the new name of The Ruskin Collection, after a major refurbishment funded by the Wolfson Foundation. |
